THE TERRIBLE MORNING

'Marsha' has been happily married for close to 40 years. She gets up one morning and it's a beautiful day. She kisses her husband good-bye as he leaves for work. Marsha is humming a happy little tune as she has her coffee later and checks her email.
'Oh,' she thinks, "Here's a love note from 'Randy' the fine husband:

"I never loved you!" this email begins. "This marriage is over! I'm coming home tonight to pack my things."

What?? Is this a joke?
Marsha calls her husband. He says the email is for real. He says he hates living in the state they have just moved to, he says it's boring, his work is boring and she is boring. He wants to go back home to Florida where he has friends and the sun shines. He rants and he rages.

Marsha hangs up the phone and cries and cries. She calls her grown daughter and they both cry and cry. Has the man lost his mind? Is there a girlfriend? Who is this person, this strange man?

Marsha emails me. She is desperate. How soon can we talk? Fortunately, I can fit her in today.

When we connect, Marsha is stunned, like a fish tossed from the water and gasping for air.
I quickly look into Randy. I find he has mental and emotional problems triggered by the sudden changes in his life.
There is no girlfriend. There is no real plan to flee his wife and the state. And, he loves his wife.

I spend a lot of time talking to Randy in his head; working to help him see clearly, putting logical ideas in his head and listening to what he tells me. It's a matter of rearranging his deranged thoughts and bringing common sense and some clear understanding, back into his mind. I tell him he needs counseling to help him with his thoughts and his life.

Here are the emails that Marsha sends me later, as follow-up to our call:

"Dear Venus:
THANK YOU, THANK YOU !
From the bottom of my heart a big hug to you. There are no words to describe how grateful I am for your help. I needed to talk to you that day and you came thru for me. Your help is more valuable than all the money in the world and my heart is filled with so much gratitude and respect for you and for the work you do.

"Let me get to the good part.

"After we spoke, I felt calm and positive. It was an awesome feeling. But I was still crying and sobbing. I went to bed and my husband came home from work. He asked me how I was doing in a calm voice, thank God. You Venus, were the answer to my prayers."

"He goes 'We need to talk.' He went on to say he didn't intend to hurt me with the email he sent me. That he doesn't like it here, that he misses our old home, that this place is boring, blah blah blah. He hugged me and said the same things you were saying to him in his head (amazing!). He was a teddy bear at that moment! Thank you Venus!"

He said that I'm the one for him, the one he loves, that there is no one like me, and that we will work thru this and that he doesn't want to lose his family, meaning me and the children.

"I explained to him that he needs to adjust to different circumstances, that he needs to control his temper and to carefully think what he is going to say before he opens his mouth. He apologized for hurting me and putting me thru hell. We kept on talking about what happened for the whole weekend. He kept apologizing, continuously saying that he loves me. At the same time I was telling him things that I didn't like about his behavior with me. We talked like a normal couple. He is another man after my session on the phone with you, Venus!"

And another email, later:

"I feel much better. Its been a week since we talked and You Rock Venus! There are no words that I could say to express how thankful I am of you. I have been following you since you began in Hay House. There is a vibration of happiness you transmit when you talk. Your show is insightful, funny. I call it Funny Medicine! It doesn't come in a pill or liquid. IT IS IN YOUR HEART! I do believe in your work. I never doubted.

"When the phone rang and I heard your voice, the Angels sang! I know you have your share of problems also but you are a good and strong lady and the willingness to help other people comes from your heart. You are an angel. May God alway bless you and keep you healthy and happy, forever. You are an inspiration to all of us. THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

"I will call you sometime for another session. You have my permission to tell my story."

"Keep up the good work!
With all my love,
'Marsha'"
