THE AGE-CROSSED LOVERS

An Older Woman, A Younger Man, And The Heart Break That Followed

At least six years ago, this is the story Mel first told us on the Dear Venus Show:

“I was 48 years old when I actually met my Pizza Guy at a restaurant I had been going to for many years. Because he had worked there all that time, I knew him very casually but we had never formally met.

Years went by, then one day in 2012, he asked if he could be my Facebook friend.

I laughed and said, "What? OK. Sure."

Another year went by and he asked me if I was married!

I said ’No.’

"One day much, much later he asked me to dinner. That was amazing.

More amazingly, he told me over dessert that he had liked me since 2003!

That was 10 years before this dinner!

But since that dinner, he has never been out of my life.

"About one month after our first date he finally looked at me and said, "By the way, how old are you?"

I said, 'I’m 48. How old are you?'

He said he was 28 years old! Twenty Eight!

Frankly, he seemed pretty unbothered by my being 20 years older. But me? I swallowed hard and maybe blinked a few times and thought, "Wow. Does this kid need glasses? What does he see in me? He could be my son."

Mel called me again in September 2014 about her romance, on the Dear Venus Show.

First, Mel told me and my listeners the back story as mentioned above…then she said,

“Oh Venus, Pizza Guy and I are going through a really rough patch. It’s the first problem we have ever had!

Can you do your Magic Love Mojo on air today for us!!! I know he wants to call me but is resisting out of pride! He is very stubborn and a little too 29 years old. I’m not ready to let my guy go. I miss him!"

Giving us more detail, she said she had called me, distraught because “For 5 weeks now, he’s been gone. He just left my life. He said he is just done with me.

I am devastated. What has happened to my Beautiful Boy?”

I told her that Pizza Guy was being convinced by his friends to not marry her... which turned out to be true!

As she said later, “Venus, You were so right!”

Later she updated me after a phone reading she had with me about "The Situation."

“Hi Venus,” she wrote. “Just updating you on Pizza Guy.

We are still not together because he says he still has 'Some things he has to take care of.' (What the hey?)

"But he continues to send pictures of us and our good times together and says he will be running back to my arms and I am HIS girl and always will be. (LOL!) He is posting this all on social media or by text! That’s why I’m laughing so hard, because I realize what a baby he is being and it makes me OK to be alone!

I appreciate all your time last week and have to say you were so accurate...he is indeed now 'jumping all over the place' ... either way everything will be alright, right?"

Sept 4, 2015

“I just heard your Dear Venus Show about my situation from 9/1/2015… so here is the Pizza Boy update… he had left me flat and I was heartbroken.

Guess what? He is back completely! He spent the time away from me getting registered for school. He said he felt he needed to be equal because I am an RN and he can't equal me financially. While away he completed a bar-tending school (I hate this) so he can pay for his tuition. But I guess I have to commend him for trying to better himself."

November 2019

"Hi Venus, this letter is a LONG time coming.
I am going to start with the REAL beginning! To remind you.
"In 2013 I bought your My Mother’s Love Mojo.

Directly after listening to that Mojo I was asked out by the very young Pizza Guy. We made plans, had dinner and continued to date every day for one year. In the middle of this dating we discussed our ages and he is 20 years younger than me. You know the story a little from this point. We had a great year, he gave me a ring and then he disappeared.

"I called you and you said his friends were convincing him to leave me. I cried but you told me there was still hope… and 5 weeks later he reappeared! That was 2015. He moved in with me shortly after and the next year his ex wife dropped off their 8 and 10 year old kids and said she was moving away.

His kids have been here since August 2016. My two kids and his two are best friends and they are the true cement for me to saying ‘yes!' to marry my Pizza Guy. He is my best friend and a strong partner and we have an amazing family.

I’m not sure how this happened but thanks for being a big part of it!

"I never really stressed the age thing. Even now he is more of an old man than me. Sometimes more wise and stable. We are a good team most days. Sometimes we fight over who is the boss (LOL) but can laugh about that too. Like I said, the 4 kids have made really good glue to this relationship but, they also could have been the demise of us.

*It’s absolutely fine to use all of my story. If I told you all the “miracles” that have happened since I stumbled upon Summer and you,

they would make up another show!!

PRAISE FOR CERTAIN MEN

WOW!

I spent a whole afternoon devouring every single page. This book is better and more empowering then "Women who Love Too Much." I absolutely loved it because it was so straight forward, down to earth and without any pop-psychology, condescending "bs". Venus was simply speaking from the heart-from personal experience. I heard her loud and clear and also laughed along the way. I am leaving the country for a while but I will not be without this book to read over and over. I am so glad I read it now but wish I had it before, 'cause it would have surely saved me so much grief and time that I instead wasted on "certain men," allowing them to make me feel awful about my wonderful self.
